It's always good to take a moment to stop and appreciate. A couple of nights ago my grandfather passed away, and while it wasn't entirely unexpected, it was still hard for me. I've never had to deal with such an intimate family member's death before. So, I'm taking today to appreciate the small moments in my life that make everything worthwhile.
Like eating pizza on tree stumps with an old friend.
Or laying by the water, drinking champagne, and enjoying the salty air.
Visiting your cutest friends, even if they live all the way in Baltimore.
Coffee dates with old friends, who have seen you through thick and thin.
Playing board games with cats.
Taking a moment to actually look at a spider web, those patterns are so elaborate!
It seems, it always comes back to surrounding yourself with the people you love, being thankful for the small things.
Miss you Grampa.
oh goodness, I am sorry for you. I haven't lost anyone very close to me either, it's going to be rough when it happens. but thank you for sharing these little joys! they really do make all the difference.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for your lost! I have lost some dear family members in the last couple of years and know how hard it can be, even though most of them had a long and fullfilled life....

ReplyDeleteThank you all for your sweet condolences! The service was on Sunday, so I'm feeling much better, like a bit of closure.
