back in vermont

I made it!!! Successfully crossing the country alone (well, plus a cat) part II!! I arrived in Vermont on Tuesday night and have already stayed over with my grandmother,  halfway unpacked, visited some friends on the eastern side, and stopped by this old covered bridge.  It's crazy to think that just year ago Melissa and I were running around these woods like we'd grown up here, but then again also it's hard to believe that it has been an entire year - time, man.
And, there's something about Vermont that makes my heart feel full and my body like it's at home.  Driving to my grandmother's in the night, I could see the silhouette of the mountains on the horizon with the waning moon in the background and I felt a complete sense of peace.  I could finally sit there in the driver's seat for a moment and not wonder if I was going the right way or what my sleeping quarters would be like for the night.  I've still got so much to do, and I miss all my friends on the western coast already a bunch, but I feel that my next 6 months here will be good ones.

Washington

A weekend to Washington to see a sweet, familiar face.  And what a beautiful weekend it was, neither of us were sick or totally exhausted from crossing the country, and there was just a general feeling of excitement.  There was music to be played, sweets to be eaten, markets to traverse, and grocery store trips that desperately needed for us to giggle in our pj's on the way to and fro. I was able to share the mossy green Washington forests with lovely people and we stumbled upon a dinosaur skeleton :o (okay, yes, it was probably a deer).
The Pacific Northwest holds a certain depth of color and mist that often surprises my eyes when I look around - a type of scenery that I've never seen before.  Even in Seattle, the area is so lush and rich that moss is able to grow on the cement - scattered along fences and coating trees - a type of beauty that seems to say you can flourish no matter where you are.

old time music.

Make- your- own (free??) wood fired pizzas, a lot of really good people, dancing at night, and always lively folk music playing in the background.  What made this place really dreamy though was the land.  The little gathering was set on a retreat space with two ponds, so many gardens and cabins, an outdoor kitchen and dancing space, and a wood fired oven.  It sparked more dreams of owning my own land and all of the magical things that can be hosted and created if you have your own designated block of earth.
