vancouver island.

It's hard to believe I've only lived here a week.  I'm already feeling like a local biking around the city and I'm mixing and shaping dough without too much instruction.  I spent my day off exploring the seacoast and this place is so beautiful in a way I've never experienced before.  The air smells different, the ocean is a different kind of salty, and there's lots of wildlife I've just never seen before (there are supposed to be orca whales??).  It still doesn't feel like home yet, and I can't help but occasionally miss how comfy I was in Vermont, but I think it will be good here.  I know I wasn't drawn to this area without reason.

museum of everyday life.

...this magical place in the middle-of-nowhere Vermont.  A museum filled with matchstick sculptures and safety pin art, different x-rays and a large taxidermy bear - all in an old white barn.  Not to mention the museum's land housed farm animals and herb/vegetable garden in the back.  I keep thinking I've found the most magical swimming hole or farm in Vermont and then I find things like this and don't know what to do anymore.

p.s. These are some of my new friends from school!

jamestown, ri

Fresh air, a cozy wooden house with a wood stove, the ocean (!!), delicious soup, a bird that sits on your shoulder and sings to you (and lets you scratch its head!), sea glass collecting,  - it's a magical place over there.
